About the Artist

Fascination with the beauty and excitement of nature and animals stirs remembrance since early childhood. Growing up in the hamlet of Pine Bush, beside the base of the Shawangunk Mountains, with its many farms, animal occupants and natural beauty, one didn’t have to look far for inspiration of creativity. Riding since the age of five, training dogs at nine and drawing since too early to remember, Kristin was quite aware of her passions from a young age.

Winning her first art competition at age nine and successfully competing in 4H dog and horse shows, the way was paved for future involvement in many venues. Activities with dogs have included: Obedience, Rally-O, Agility, Breed Handling, Tracking and Schutzhund training and competition, employment as a small animal Veterinary Assistant and rescue. Horse endeavors include: training and showing Quarter Horses and Thoroughbreds, exercising Lipizzaner Stallions for Circus Scott in Sweden, all facets of Standardbred nurseries (foaling,  breeding shed management, stallion collection, veterinary and manager’s assistant, sales prep and sales), and caretaker for racing stake horses. Cornell University activities include: Veterinary College Reproduction Lab teaching assistant and Equine Reproduction research assistant, Undergrad Teaching in Reproduction and research in freezing stallion semen.

A graduate of Cornell University, she gained employement with NYU in medical research focusing in Biochemistry. After the birth of her two children she directed her passion and interest in an art and dog training career, to have a more flexible schedule and be closer to home. Currently working in diverse media, many works include dogs and horses in bronze, stone, clay, various organic materials, oil paints, watercolor and graphite. GOOD DOGma training and behavior modification provides the service of competition instruction and home visitation to assist in developing a balanced pack/family environment.

Studies at SUNY New Paltz and the American Academy of Equine Art have added insight and knowledge of the creative process. The ability to “read” dogs and horses coupled with experience and studies in anatomy and movement provide a solid foundation to capture not only the look of the animal, but the life and essence of its being. The passion for the creatures and the relationships with their people are joyfully reproduced and that joy expresses itself in every piece.

Kristin feels that works produced should highlight the subject of choice and provide a lasting celebration of the life, talent, beauty and love of the animal and the relationship with its person. Those closest to the subject are encouraged to participate in the process. 100% satisfaction is Guaranteed.
